That even as we grieved, we grow. That even as we hurt, we hoped.
— Amanda Gorman

Mission Statement

Change Heals was founded in the hope and belief that true healing is possible for every person. From an understanding that no one is perfect, comes the understanding that hurt and pain are ever present in our world. However, we do not have to stay in that place if we are willing to see it and have the courage to change it. With the right kind of support and guidance, we can truly find the healing that will bring us out of our brokenness. And with our new understanding of ourselves and our healing, we in turn can help heal others. Optimistically, the hope and prayer of Change Heals is that one person at a time, we can all help Change and Heal our world.

Hi, I’m Stephanie Baker MA, LPCC-S, DARTT, EMDR

My biggest joy in my work is getting to celebrate with my clients in their journey. That looks different for every person. It may be discovering their true sense of self, healing a past hurt, finding a freedom they have never known, or loving themselves for the very first time. Although these accomplishes may look small to others on the outside, I know the pain, work, and commitment that went into getting to that point, and it makes my heart smile!!

I have a passion for helping people heal, whether from overwhelming/intense trauma, or the everyday stresses of life. I feel honored to walk with my clients on their journey to finding the joy and happiness that we all crave and need in our lives. I have been blessed to find treatment models that I honestly believe in and stand behind because I see the evidence of success in the lives of my clients, as well as my own life. I created this private practice, Change Heals, as a way to use my skills to help people better understand themselves in order to find their healing.

I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, with a Supervisor Designation (LPCC-S). I have been working in the field since 2010. During that time, I have worked with preschoolers who had open cases with children's services, done in-home family based therapy, served as a Clinical Director at a drug and alcohol treatment program, and in group private practices. I feel blessed to have such a wide range of experience under my belt. It has helped me find my true passion in the work that I do with clients and helping them find healing. I know that I am just one person, but if just one life is changed for the better because of the help I can provide, I feel that it was all worth it to me. "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." -Mother Teresa

What is the obsession with trees?

Story behind the logo

Like autumn leaves on a tree, we often have to be willing to give up, let go, forgive, forget, or simply let something die, in order for new growth and healing to take place. What change do you need in your life to find your healing?

The first thing we need to do is adjust our perceptions of our reality in light of current stressors and struggles. We need to get our story straight and redefine our definition of trauma and other issues that are more in alignment with our life as it is lived not as it looks.

We often aren't aware of the strong impact our past can have on our daily lives, until it is standing right in front of us, controlling our thoughts, feelings, and actions. We can feel helpless and even start to hate ourselves for them, feeling completely out of control from stopping or changing it. But this doesn't have to be the case, we just have to find the right key to unlock our understanding of them and then be able to move forward.
